If you rent an apartment at the University you can count on noisy neighbors. Although it is very quiet during the summer and school vacation weeks. If you are looking for a quiet neighborhood this is not for you.

Stratham is home of the NH SPCA so as you can imagine it's a very pet friendly community. Stratham Hill park is a great place to bring your dog. They have fields and hiking trails. It is also home of the annual Paws Walk to raise money for the SPCA. Please keep in mind that you must have your dog on a leash and pick up their messes.

Rye doesn't have much of a nightlife. There are a few bars in Rye, but they tend to close around 9pm. Most of the recreation in Rye is associated with the beach. Surfing, swimming, and paddle boarding are very popular. There is also hiking and biking in the area. The Seacoast Science center offers lots of activities for both adults and children.

Apartment cost can be high in the town of Rye. This is due to its proximity to the ocean. Also Rye is made up mostly of residential houses. There are no apartment complexes in Rye. The apartments for rent are mostly in owners homes.There are also a few rental homes in Rye. There are plenty of winter rentals.

The traffic in Hampton can be hectic in the Summer time. The Hampton Beach area is very congested on beach days, especially during the weekends or holidays. In the winter the traffic is very light. Sometimes the downtown area can get busy during the rush hours. You wont have a problem at all getting around Hampton in the winter time.

The traffic in Rye is very light. Although during the summer months you will see an increase of beach goer traffic. The Rye Traffic Circle and Ocean Blvd can be heavy at times. You will also see a lot of people biking and running during the nice weather. During the winter the roads are free and clear. Commuting to and from work wont be an issue in Rye.

Portsmouth is very renter friendly. The downtown area is made up of apartments and condos. There are a lot of old houses that are broken up into apartments. There are also several apartment complexes in Portsmouth such as Beechstone and Patriots Park. You will also find a few houses that have an apartment over the garage.

The downtown Portsmouth area has a thriving night life. Bars are close together and you can walk from one bar to the next. When the bars close there are restaurants that serve late night meals to the hungry crowds. During the day downtown is full of shoppers and tourist. There are a lot of unique shops and all kinds of restaurants to enjoy.

Rye has two schools. Rye Elementary School and Rye Junior High. The school bus services both schools at the same time. Rye doesn't have a High School. The town of Rye pays Portsmouth High School to send their kids there. The Rye schools have been known to be the best in the state of New Hampshire.

Portsmouth Public Transportation is provided by The Coast Bus. The Coast bus has several stops in the Portsmouth area. It will even take you to the Fox Run Mall or the movies. There is no public transportation in Rye. Most people get around Rye by car, scooter, or bicycle. Taxi service is available throughout Rye. However there is public transportation in the neighboring town of Portsmouth. Public Transportation is operated by The Coast Bus. The Coast Bus has many stops around the Seacoast.

Rye is full of Restaurants that offer locally caught seafood. Ray's Seafood catches their own lobsters and they have a breathtaking ocean view. They are located at 1677 Ocean Blvd. The Carriage House offers casual fine dinning across from Jenness Beach. Reservations are recommended for the Carriage House.

The Portsmouth Dog park is located at the South Mill Pond next to the tennis courts. The dog park is managed by The Dog Owners Group of the Seacoast. The park is open dusk until dawn. They provide drinking water and benches. It is expected that you clean up after your dog, and mussel your dog if it has a history of biting.

Dogs are welcome on all of Rye's beautiful beaches at all times during the winter months. From Memorial Day to Labor Day Dogs are only allowed on the beach before 9:00 AM and after 7:00PM. Pet owners must put up their dogs waste. Another great place to bring your dog in Rye is the Rye Woods. You can access the Rye Woods via Recreation Road or from Perkins Field.
