Chicago has a vast array of public transportation from subways, to the elevated train to busses. Full time students on campus get a U-Pass, which gives unlimited rides on any CTA bus or train during the fall and spring academic semesters. The U-Pass is actually part of the fees established when a student registers for courses each semester. If you live outside of Chicago in the suburbs, travel isn’t a problem. The Regional Transportation Authority has a vast array of Metra trains and PACE buses that can get you to campus with ease. Make sure you check schedule and times because they can change without a lot of notice.

There is never a lack of things to do in Chicago, from nationally regarded comedy clubs, to major sports teams this city has a bit of everything for everyone. The Second City is definitely a place to check out if you’re in Chicago, home of some of the most amazing comics this century. Described as the best place for Improv in the city, laughing and having a great time will come easy to you and your friends. Bloomington, Indiana is your typical midwestern town with warm Summers and cold Winters. The average July high is 88 degrees, and the average January low is about 21 degrees. Rainfall is slightly higher than the national average at 44 inches ( the national average is about 36 inches of rainfall per year). Bloomington has the Bloomington Pops Orchestra that will fill your ears with sweet music, or you could catch a show with the Cardinal Stage Company. Live entertainment isn’t the only thing Bloomington has to offer, there are plenty of art galleries that help artists get their names out there. The Gallery Walk is a string of art galleries downtown that you can spend hours looking at. Never a dull moment in Bloomington.

They also serve a variety of sandwiches that do not disappoint. If you’re not much of a sandwich person, no problem, there are plenty of other places that tickle the more fickle of taste buds. The Southern Spice Restaurant & Grill serves a good breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have a variety of down home southern cooking that would please almost anybody. Commuting is not a problem for this campus, since it is mostly a commuter campus. People coming from Oakland, Pleasanton and Livermore will find the travel easy enough. Taking the I-580 will put you in the right direction, if you’re in town or coming from Oakland just take exit 51 (East and Westbound I-580) off from the interstate and it’s smooth sailing from there. You can always take various side streets in order to get to the Collier Canyon Road entrance, if you’re on I-580 you can take the Airway Blvd exit to get to that side of campus.

Due to Hilo’s eastern location, it makes it one of the wettest cities in the United States.On average 275 days out of the year receives some sort of rainfall, this is actually the most rainy days for any place north of the equator. You can use public transit with ease in Hilo to get to campus. The Keaukaha route bus operated by the Hawai’i County Mass Transit Agency takes you directly to campus in various intervals throughout the day (about once every hour). The first bus stops at 7:40am, and the last bus leaves campus at 4:15pm. Make sure you get there on time so you don’t get left behind!

ETSU has on-campus housing, but if you’re looking for something off-campus the college provides a service which lists privately owned houses, apartments, condos, and rooms for rent. The average studio apartment is relatively inexpensive at $385 per month on average. One bedrooms will be a bit more expensive, however $505 a month can be doable. It’s fairly simple to accommodate two people in a one-bedroom apartment to help ease the price of rent. However, if you don’t want to do that a 2 bedroom, on average, will run you around $651.

This campus is safe, with only a few instances of property crime. The most arrests on campus stem from under age drinking and drug related (minor) arrests. The city of DeKalb has around 43,700 people living in its borders, and in that population a total of 1,844 crimes were reported over the course of a year. There’s no joking around, Orlando is hot! During the height of the Summer, high temps hover around 90 degrees and the low hardly ever dips below 70. The humid climate in the area actually prevents actual temperatures from breaking the 100 degree mouth. During these hot months thunderstorms are a daily occurrence. However, in the winter months, daytime highs are around 70 degrees, with lows staying close to 50 degrees. The lowest temperature that was ever recorded in Orlando was in 1985 at 19 degrees. It doesn’t get too cold here, but plan on having an air conditioner nearby for those extremely humid months.

Orlando has numerous annual special events, especially when it comes to football. Every year Orlando hosts the Capital One Bowl at One Citrus Bowl Plaza. Orlando also hosts the annual Florida Citrus Bowl at the same location, which showcases one team from the Southeastern Conference and the Big Ten Conference. Orlanda is also home to the Zora Neal Hurston Festival of the Arts and Humanities, which celebrates arts, gospel, poetry and R&B music. It can stay pretty warm in the summer where the high breaches 80 degrees, records surpass that quite a bit but it’s not bad. Snowfall isn’t too much to worry about as the average amounts are only about 35 inches, which seems kind of low for Wisconsin. You can take the MTA subway to campus on many separate lines. You can take the F Line to the Ave X station, then transfer to the eastbound B1 to campus. There are some pretty great ethnic food restaurants nearby to campus. Harrar Cafe is a great Ethiopian place that serves authentic and delicious dishes that the locals rave about. Another Ethiopian place is Lalibela, which competes with Harrar, so you’ll find fantastic cuisine built by competition at both of these places. They also have a Indian, Japanese, Italian, Thai food not even a mile off campus. You can find just about anything here that you’re in the mood for in South Orange.

Rental costs can range from around $650 on average to upwards of $1300 if you’re looking for a bigger place. If you live 5-10 miles outside of Keene you might save a bit on rent, cities such as Nelson, Marlborough, Winchester and Harrisville have rent that’s cheaper on average, but there are always exceptions. You can find a decent one bedroom apartment in the area for about $650 a month, you can always find something cheaper but you might have to sacrifice some amenities.

There are plenty of things to do and see in Keene, New Hampshire. The Thorne-Sagendorph Art Gallery is a nice place if you’re into art, they always have interesting exhibits open. The Stonewall Farm is also a really interesting stop in Keene, it’s a working farm, and in the fall they have maple sugaring, fresh apple cider and hayrides for the kids.The Colonial Theatre is an old historic theatre that has many big name stars grace its stage, it’s a great place if you’re up for taking in a concert or two.

The campus is located about 15 miles outside of Augusta, where the airport is located, so you can get and out of town if you need to without much of a hassle.

ODU has escort and SAFERIDE services that help students get where they are going safely. These services are provided from 5:30pm to 2:30am daily. Average price of a one bedroom apartment in the city can run you about $1164 - but you definitely can find some cheaper places around town. Traffic can get a bit congested in the area, which is why Chaffey College has teamed up with Inland Empire Commuter Services to institute a rideshare program. You can go on their website or call their toll-free number to find a rideshare partner. The commute isn’t too bad, you can find your way to college from any number of roads. North to South you can take Haven Ave, or from East to West you can find campus driving on Wilson Ave. The Foothill Freeway is also a good idea if you’re coming from farther away.
