Crime & Safety
MyApartmentMap Guide - Real Estate Agent
Georgetown has one of the lowest crime rates out of all DC communities. The website Neighborhood Scout currently has it ranked fifth safest in the city. If you go north of Georgetown, to areas like Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway, or west to Foxhall Village or Wesley Heights, the safety stays about the same. But if you go to the southeast of Georgetown, you’ll be in the City Center, which is known for its high crime. So, you’ll have to make sure you’re aware when you walk around at night, because you could end up on a dangerous street outside of your neighborhood.

MyApartmentMap Guide - Real Estate Agent
Even though Georgetown University -- a very well respected school -- is located nearby, don’t expect to be able to find low-priced student housing. Georgetown is easily one of the most affluent communities in the entire city; it would be impossible to create a list of the most expensive neighborhoods in DC without having them in the top five or ten. A lot of the city’s elite (I’ve heard them described as yuppies) live here, and you’ll immediately be able to see why. The neighborhood is safe, pristine, has a great location, and is home to the best school in the city. If you can afford to open up your budget, this is a perfect neighborhood to live in.
