If you research the Queen Anne neighborhood and notice that it seems like most of the residents here rent instead of own, it’s not your imagination. According to the Census, 63% of residents in Queen Anne rent, and only 37% own a property. This can be attributed to the neighborhood’s young age and the lack of married couples here. Young bachelors and bachelorettes are more likely to rent than married couples and families. Because renting is so popular in the neighborhood, you shouldn’t have any trouble at all finding listings to choose from. Rentable properties are more plentiful here than in most other Seattle neighborhoods.

Only 32 percent of the population is married, which is nearly half of the state and national averages of 55 percent. Queen Anne’s population is 80 percent White, compared to 70 percent for the city overall, and is a couple years younger than average with a median age of 33.9. Probably the most lopsided difference is that 60 percent of residents in Queen Anne hold a Bachelor’s degree. Seattle’s average is 40 percent, but the difference really shows when you look at the state average -- 28 percent -- and the national average of 24 percent. Overall, the trends for Queen Anne show that the neighborhood is wealthier, younger, more educated, whiter, and more single than the Seattle averages.
