Magnolia is separated from most of Seattle by Salmon Bay. There are three bridges connecting Magnolia residents with the rest of Seattle and the continent. The Salmon Bay Bridge, in the north end of the neighborhood, is exclusively for the trains of BNSF Railways, providing convenient public transport for daily commuters. For drivers, the Magnolia Bridge (West Garfield Street), West Emerson Place, and West Dravus Street extend over the bay. The water of the Puget Sound surrounds the neighborhood completely on the north and west sides. Once back on the mainland, many important avenues as well as Interstate 5 are easily accessible, as are park and rides for King County Metro rail and bus routes.

While Seattle takes care of most of the big holiday celebrations, Magnolia has come up with some events of its own. Annually, Magnolia sponsors a Holiday Bazaar, Inspiring Gifts Festival, giving people the chance to buy and sell baked goods as well as gently used gifts, Nine Lives Gala, with live entertainment, where proceeds are given to the local animal shelter, and the Fall ‘Best of the Northwest’ arts & crafts fair. They also hold various events throughout the year, like regular Health and Beauty event at Bartell drug store, Light the Night cancer support walks, and Garden Walk Magnolia tours.
