The predominant demographic in Marina is the modern “young professional” -- these are young men and women in their 20s and 30s who have high-paying jobs somewhere in the city (if their careers weren’t high-paying, they probably wouldn’t be able to live in Marina). If you rent here you will probably see more of these types of people than any other. Decades ago this neighborhood was populated by middle-class families and retirees. But recently there has been an infusion of youth, and now more than 50% of the population is comprised of young professionals.

The Marina’s most well-known site is probably the Palace of Fine Arts, which is an elegant and impressive structure that isn’t just for tourists. Locals will often visit on the weekends too, whether it’s to sit near the campus’s peaceful pond, or admire the building’s art. The Marina also has great recreation, such as the Marina Green Park. This is one of the most popular parks in the entire city, as it features views of the Golden Gate Bridge, the bay, and Alcatraz. There’s also a small beach on the bay that features, in my opinion, the best views of the bridge. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that Marina is regarded as one of the premier neighborhoods for foodies. San Francisco is known internationally for its cuisine, and Marina restaurants like Greens, Isa, and Capannina are a large reason why.
