The Castro and Upper Market neighborhoods are served by the San Francisco Municipal Railway, known as Muni. The Castro Street Station operates lines K, L, M, T, and F on the Metro Light Rail. Each train route provides access to further travelling railways and other modes of transportation around the San Francisco area and beyond. A trolley streetcar line was created to travel through this neighborhood in September of 2012. San Francisco is an advocate of biking as a means of transportation, and have biking routes all over the city. Routes 40, 49 and 50 are in the Castro/Upper Market area.
