This single neighborhood of Sacramento has over 165 restaurants of all varieties and expenses. For Italian food, Biba is a decadent delicious option (around $30 an entree), while Paesano’s is a bit less expensive and upscale, a favorite for gourmet pizza. For American fare, Mulvaney’s B&L provides a high-class environment and a very exciting menu, while 58 Degrees and Holding has a more relaxed atmosphere, without the menu suffering. Hamburger Patties is a must-visit for burgers. There are around 10 Mexican eateries in Midtown; Azul Mexican Food and Tequila Bar being a local favorite for a quality, sit-down meal, and Jalapenos for a burrito or quick bite. For Japanese food, especially sushi, check out Kru, Kamon, and Ju Hachi, in that order. Harry’s Cafe is great for Chinese/Vietnamese take-out, dine-in, and breakfast! There are so many options; these are some starting points, but one could be culinarily satisfied in Midtown for years.

Sacramento has many special events throughout the year, covering all of the regular holiday celebrations. The neighborhood of Midtown has created its own events and reasons to celebrate, and do so year round. The Midtown Arts Festival occurs as part of Sacramento’s Artober/Fall for the Arts season. Here, Midtown sets up its streets with performance as well as visual art, from professional to experimental. After that, the Trick or Treat Pooch Parade happens, followed by The 12 Days of Midtown celebration December 1-12, featuring performances by the regions best performing arts organizations, as well as unique holiday shopping, eating, and drinking specials. Fashion’s Night Out and the Midtown Business Association’s Annual Gala both celebrate the eclectic style and success of neighborhood retailers. Many other events happen throughout the year, such as art and music performances, community mixtape swaps and bike rides, and more. All events and more neighborhood information can be found at exploremidtown.org.
