When I want to go out with friends or the family on the weekend, I usually look in the Park Ave area for restaurants. The choices are extremely eclectic, and there are a number of solid, locally owned places (see: not a chain restaurant). Piranha has the best sushi around, Esan cooks up delicious Thai dishes, Sinbad’s serves Lebanese cuisine, Chester Cab and Marvin’s Mozzeroni’s have wonderful pizza, the French Quarter Cafe offers home-cooked Cajun food... and so on. You can order an old favorite or try something new, but either way you’ll be pleased with all the restaurants in Park Ave.
Local Events

You can’t really understand the true character and spirit of Park Ave until you’ve attended the Park Ave Summer Arts Fest. The annual event is easily the largest in Rochester, as it brings more than 250,000 people from around the country to the area, as well as over 300 artists. A lot of the city’s restaurants, vendors, and merchants also show up and offer food, drinks, and deals. The streets are flooded with people having a great time, and there is a palpable euphoria in the air. If you rent here you will realize that there aren’t many better feelings than seeing your community come alive during this festival. There are also holiday festivals and open houses for the community that are popular with locals.
