Portland is a great walking neighborhood; Downtown and the CTLH/South Portland neighborhood. It is right on the water of the Willamette River, and for that reason is full of walking trails and parks. This, along with the number of complexes accepting pets, make it a pet friendly neighborhood. When it comes to renting with large dogs, there tends to consistently be availabilities mostly in upscale, more expensive buildings. Of course, there are more places accepting small dogs and cats, and with those you should be able to find rentals of all costs and styles. Last time I applied the pet options modifier in the advanced options section of My Apartment Map’s search area, I saw around ten buildings with various accommodations accepting pets.
Nightlife

There are approximately 10 nightlife venues in the Corbett/Terwilliger/Lair Hill neighborhoods of South Portland. The only place considered to be a dance club is Scandals, a club catering to the gay community, which doubles as a bar and grill during the daytime, and stays open until 2:30am seven days a week. Kay’s Lounge has the same hours, but is more of a laid-back, old-school type place to grab a few drinks. Hound Dog Bar & Grill, Firkin Tavern and East End are similar, while Bar Avignon is a more upscale bar with an extensive wine list and fancier decor. Cascade Brewing and Barrell House is renowned for its beer selection, especially sours. Bunk Bar and Rotture are both cool venues with frequent live music. For the low number of bars available, there is some variety.
