Local Guide - Real Estate Agent
Southside Slopes is one of the most unique communities in Pittsburgh, and is well-known for its steep roads; if you’ve been to San Francisco, think of what their streets are like. Because of how steep they are, many of the sidewalks here are actually staircases. Some of the stairways are actually considered their own streets, and prompted the neighborhood group here to launch an annual event called Steptrek where visitors and locals can walk along the public steps in the neighborhood. Another unique aspect to the neighborhood is one that will interest renters: many of the properties here have panoramic views of the city’s skyline.
Traffic & Commuting
Local Guide - Real Estate Agent
The Monongahela River separates Southside Slopes from Downtown Pittsburgh, so commuters have to take the Liberty Bridge or the 10th Street Bridge to get there. If you have to drive into the city every day, you will most likely take Arlington Avenue, which will take you directly from Southside Slopes, over the Liberty, to Downtown in three miles and ten minutes (without traffic). For public transportation, there aren’t any rail lines that have stops in the area, but there are multiple buses that you can take to get around.
