Traffic & Commuting
Rental Locator - Real Estate Agent
Highland Park is located right on the Allegheny River, so to get to some parts of the metropolitan area you’re going to need to cross a bridge (the Highland Park bridge is closest). But hey, you’re not officially a resident of Pittsburgh until you have to cross a bridge to get somewhere! To get to Downtown, you just have to hop on Route 380 and drive 20 minutes or so. Traffic isn’t really an issue because there are also two other ways you can take to get to Downtown, so check the traffic reports before you leave home or work, and plan your route accordingly. For public transportation, there are bus routes that serve the neighborhood.
Recreation
Rental Locator - Real Estate Agent
Highland Park, the public space inside the neighborhood that bears its name, is one of the finest city parks in Pittsburgh. It contains a beautiful reservoir, and there is a scenic loop that circles around it and is widely used for walking, biking, and jogging. The park also has tennis courts, gardens, and most notably, the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium. You could easily argue that the Highland Park neighborhood has more recreational amenities than any other in the city, and this will only be strengthened when the Heth’s Run project is fully completed. This will add trails and sports fields to the park, and will connect it to the river.
