The West Village of Greenwich Village in Manhattan is home to more than 450 restaurants, of all styles and price ranges. One of the favorites of locals and visitors alike is Mas Farmhouse, an upscale French place with an average bill exceeding $100 per person. For a little less, L’Artusi Italian retains the class, at a lower price. You can choose those, or one of the other 20 French or 40 Italian places. Some other favorites are Blue Ribbon Downing Street Bar and Annisa (2 of 40 American style restaurants), Cafe Asean (1 of 20 Chinese), Takashi Steakhouse and Soto Sushi (2 of 15 Japanese), and Tartine and Blue Ribbon Bakery & Cafe (2 of 15 breakfast spots). The area has a wealth of rentals, do realize that things go faster here than any other area in the city. The serene cobble stone streets and proximity to the water, coupled with the feeling of being away from it all yet actually right in the middle of the city, makes it hard to get away from the area once you have seen a a place here.
