MyApartmentMap Guide - Real Estate Agent
SoHo is currently one of the trendiest areas in New York City to live. It wasn’t always this way, but there has been extreme gentrification in the area -- it even inspired the term the “SoHo Effect.” What emerged from these revitalizations is a commercialized area with plenty of shopping, dining, and artistic businesses. However, there are certain parts of SoHo, like the southern area of the neighborhood, that are still similar to how the community used to look. The architecture features very Italian or Renaissance styles, and is famous for its cast-iron look. In fact, it has more cast-iron architecture than any other area in the world, and numerous historic preservation attempts have saved a lot of the neighborhood from reconstruction or redevelopment.

SoHo is the shopping and cultural center of Manhattan, without a doubt. There are countless retailers, designer shops, boutiques, and other stores that are packed every day. While most of the designer stores are expensive, you can find some deals at plenty of shops in SoHo. This community is also home to many artists whose galleries, lofts, and museums are located here. Overall, SoHo is a very hip area where city residents go when they want to enjoy a piece of the Big Apple’s best culture.
