Public Transportation

Public Transportation

The 6 train is the best public transportation option for Murray Hill. Stops are at 28th Street and Park Avenue, and 32nd Street and Park Avenue. There are buses that run up and down 3rd Avenue, 2nd Avenue and across 34th Street, but the subway is the more popular means of transport. Apartments that are closer to the 6 train stops will command higher rents than those located further east (for example on 1st avenue) where residents have to walk further to get to the subway stop.

The nightlife in Murray Hill and Kips Bay is focused around a number of sports bars and casual pubs in the area, notably Brother Jimmy's on 31st and Lexington, and the strip of sports bars on 3rd avenue between 27th and 34th Streets. This scene is normally dominated by recent college graduates and young professionals in their twenties and early 30s. There are also a number of wine bars on 3rd avenue in Murray Hill, casual ethnic restaurants, and a few upscale eateries, although those are harder to find in this neighborhood.
