Restaurants
Local Guide - Real Estate Agent
Battery Park is home to approximately 40 eateries, consisting of everything from hot dog carts to upscale dining. North End Grill is the most popular spot in the neighborhood. It serves American style food, is a bit pricey ($30-$55 per entree), it is worth the money if you have it to spend. Merchant’s River House is similar and a little easier on the wallet. Blue Smoke is a fantastic barbecue spot, also a bit pricey, and also worth it if you’ve got it. There are a few good sushi spots, including Yushi; and around 5 pizza places, Harry’s being the local favorite. Some other places I would recommend: Quality Burger, Wei West for Asian fusion delights, and Francois Payard Bakery for a sandwich, tart or pastry. There’s a little bit of everything in Battery Park, and a lot more of it all around the city.
Public Transportation
Local Guide - Real Estate Agent
Public transit is the best way to travel in and around Battery Park. It is located in Lower Manhattan, right on the Hudson River, so parking is almost non-existent outside of assigned spaces. If you must drive, coming from the east side, FDR Drive South to Exit 1 will get you into Battery Park, and from the west side, West Side Highway South/9A. Luckily, Battery Park is very easily accessed by bus and rail. By subway, the Local 7th Avenue and Broadway lines, to the last stop and Whitehall Street respectively, as well as the Express Lexington Avenue Line to the Bowling Green stop will all bring you into Battery Park. M1, M6, and M15 busses taken to the final stop (South Ferry) also serve the neighborhood.

One of the quietest and pleasant areas of the city right now is Battery Park City. An area that was water just 5o years ago, was land filled to create this wonderful vibrant neighborhood. Rents are considered reasonable by New York's standards with one bedroom apartments starting at around $2,800 monthly. Amenities abound and restaurants, shopping and public space are plentiful. The area is home to what is probably one of the most beautiful waterfront promenades in the world. All this and you are just a 15 minute subway ride to anywhere in midtown. This is an area to be considered whether you are an individual or a family looking for a place to live in NYC.
