Demographics

I’m happy to report that since Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, the Lower Garden District has been one of the quickest recovering and most flourishing areas. In fact, the population in the neighborhood in 2000 was 6,116. Five years later, Katrina hit. Yet, in 2010, the population had grown to 6,363. The number of households and families also increased. The area will continue to grow, and as it does more rentals will hit the market. Check out the listings, and be a part of this important growth the neighborhood is experiencing.
Nightlife

The Lower Garden District has a very eccentric feel to it. Its nightlife includes a variety of pubs, lounges, and restaurants that reflect this quirkiness. The Eiffel Society, Polo Club, and Evangeline II are popular lounges on the weekend. Pubs and bars like the Irish House, Lucky’s Bar, the Avenue Pub, and the Saint are some of the best in the city. The Bayou Bar and the Jazz Quarter are two establishments that really show some of the neighborhood’s, and the city’s, best traits.
