Schools & Education
MyApartmentMap Guide - Real Estate Agent
North Long Beach is part of District 9 of the Long Beach Unified School District. The neighborhood is served by 7 elementary schools (Longfellow, Jane Addams, Dooley, Starr King, MckInley, Bret Harte, and Ulysses S. Grant), 5 middle schools (Charles Evan Hughes, Charles Lindbergh, Alexander Hamilton, Colin Powell, and Perry Lindsey), and 1 high school (Jordan). LBUSD has seen continuous positive changes since uniforms were implemented in 1994; since then, assaults have decreased by 66%, vandalism and suspensions have dropped, and attendance and test scores have risen. In 2003 and 2004, this district was granted over 2 million dollars in grants as two time winner of the Broad Prize for Urban Education which also gave over $500,000 in grants to graduating seniors. The population of these schools have decreased in recent years, which hasn’t caused any significant changes in the progression of the schools.
