Public Transportation

The major public transit companies in the area, LADOT and LACMTA, both provide access to the downtown area. One of the services you’ll probably use most if you work in Los Angeles is the Blue Line of LACMTA’s light rail, which takes commuters to the City of Angels. There is also bus services that are operated by a number of organizations. Torrance Transit, Long Beach Transit, and Greyhound run buses out of here. To top it off, Amtrak also has routes that run through the community.

If you’re out and about on the weekend with friends in Long Beach, you’re more than likely headed for downtown. This is the area of town that has the best restaurants, clubs, lounges, cafes, you name it. Living here puts you square in the middle of the liveliest and most exciting area of town. Because of this, the rents are a bit more expensive here than in more outer areas. But the location is definitely worth it, especially if you have a job in downtown. Or, if you want to enjoy the nightlife and attractions of another city -- like Los Angeles -- there are more public transit options in downtown than other areas of Long Beach.
