The .55 square mile neighborhood is home to 4,927 residents, a very dense population. The median age in Fort Sanders is 25, with many residents between 18 and 23 years. The neighborhood is predominantly white, with about 10% each of Asian and African Americans. If you are a young adult looking for a fun neighborhood, this is a great place to live. Otherwise, be aware that it has a reputation for frequent house and block parties, sometimes spanning several blocks. In the summer months, however, when all the college “kids” go home, it is a very quiet, empty place.
