The first question I always receive when clients ask me about a neighborhood is the pricing. There usually isn’t a clear cut answer to this, especially with a fluctuating market, so I encourage them to consider what type of property they want and start from there. Look at the listings for River Market on this site; there are luxurious lofts for $2,000, one bedroom apartments for less than $1,000, and of course, studio rentals for cheap. Consider how many bedrooms you want, the type of rental you’re looking for, and location, and you’ll be able to establish a price range for this neighborhood.

The name of the neighborhood comes from two things: its location on the Missouri River and a popular farmers’ market called the City Market. The latter still exists today, and residents from all over Kansas City travel here to buy fresh vegetables, fruit, and other local organic goods. As for the river, there are parks like the Richard L Berkley Riverfront Park, River Bluff Park, and Riverfront Heritage Trail along its shore. These areas are great for exercise, like biking or walking, and are the sites for various special events. River Market is also rich with history, and features an observation deck that overlooks the Missouri River towards the city.
