There are over 250 restaurants in The Heights neighborhood of Houston. This includes great variety and quality. Of course southern cuisine is important in Houston, and Zelko’s Bistro provides a nice, comfortable homestyle southern experience. Also a must in Houston is barbecue, Gatlin’s is the go-to bbq spot in The Heights. Texas is also home to many of the country’s great Mexican spots, and there are 55 in this neighborhood alone; for a quick bite, Taqueria Maya Quiche is a taco truck popular among locals, and Tampico provides a nice sit-down meal, complete with Mariachi. For Italian, Coppa Ristorante is a large, boisterous place, while Bellisimo Ristorante provides a more intimate experience. Branch Water Tavern is a popular steakhouse, an almost necessary stop in The Heights. These are some starting points; the list goes on.

There are a great number of pet-friendly apartments in The Heights, many allowing large dogs. Stonewood Apartments is the most open ended in terms of allowance, having no breed or weight restrictions. Many, such as Retreat at City Park and Grove at White Oak complexes, do not allow those considered aggressive breeds, some have breeds they do not allow listed.
