Information About the Area from our Experts
Restaurants
Evelyn Troy - Real Estate Agent
There are around 10 restaurants in the neighborhood of Diamond Head. It is a small area, and they have managed to cover all types of cuisine. That being said, fine dining is not an option in this neighborhood. There is Italian food, at Happy Valley, and Japanese at Pioneer Saloon and Aloha Sushi. However, these typically upscale types are Hawaii-fied here; very casual and fun, mostly focusing on the food. Bogart’s and Diamond Head Cove Health Bar are infamous breakfast and brunch venues, located next door to one another. Their menus are similar, putting them in constant competition (especially in the case of Acai bowls). Diamond Head Market might be the most popular eatery in the area. It is a take-out window with outdoor seating, serving sandwiches and simple dishes of all types. South Shore Grill is the primary Hawaiian-style restaurant in Diamond Head, and for some local flavor on the go, L&L is fast island food.

If you ever watched the series Lost, and thought “wow, I wouldn’t mind being stranded with that view!”, you’ve got something to do in Diamond Head, without the whole being stranded ordeal. This is where much of the show was filmed. The neighborhood is organized around a large volcanic tuff cone, or crater. There is a phenomenal hiking trail, .75 miles up to the crater’s rim, consisting of paved and unpaved trail, tunnels, and spiral “staircases” of rock. At the top you can see all of Waikiki, Hawaii, and miles of the Pacific. Diamond Head is located on the southwest corner of Honolulu, making beach activities a convenient form of recreation as well. The Diamond Head Theater offers live theater productions, and the Royal Hawaiian Band live musical acts. There are also a few bars and unique shopping opportunities. There is plenty to do in this Honolulu neighborhood.
