It's no secret that Chicago real estate is expensive, and the median price for a rental in West Town flutters around $2,000 on average. A two bedroom apartment will cost you in that ballpark, but a studio or one bedroom will lower your rent to $1,500, and a three will spike it to $2,400 (these are approximates and often fluctuate). There's no denying that these are steep prices, but there are a handful of other neighborhoods that are more expensive. The Near West Side ($2,320 average), Lincoln Park ($2332), Near North Side ($2,678), and especially the Loop ($2,976) all have median rents that soar past West Town and its $2,000 average.

West Town is among the best commuter neighborhoods in the city. I say this because if you look east and south of West Town, you will see that two major roads mark its borders. The eastern border is represented by the Kennedy Expressway, which spans three interstates (90, 190, 94), and travels from the O'Hare Airport to the Chicago Loop. South of West Town is Interstate 290, which also stems from the Loop. These are undoubtedly the two most important major roads in all of Chicago, and if you live in West Town you'll have great access to both. I should also note that the area is also very well-served by public transportation.
