Apartment Costs

MyApartmentMap Neighborhood Expert - Property Manager

Bay Ridge has been, over time, one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Brooklyn. Despite the price dips that affected the area during the Recession, it still costs a pretty penny to rent here. The rental data on My Apartment Map lists Bay Ridge as the third most expensive community in the area, behind only Park Slope and Bensonhurst. More specifically, one bedrooms are usually around $1500, and two bedrooms are usually in the $2000 ballpark, give or take a couple hundred on both figures. These prices may sound absurd to someone who isn’t familiar with rent in New York City, but they’re actually pretty typical for an area like Bay Ridge.

Most people could tell you that Bay Ridge is a community with a large elderly population -- in fact, one out of every five residents (20%) is over the age of 60. Bay Ridge is also considered a middle-class neighborhood with a political identity that lands on the conservative side. There are a lot of international establishments in Bay Ridge, which could be explained by its its large Lebanese, Italian, Greek, and Irish populations. Overall, it’s a diverse neighborhood with a fair blend of locals and foreigners.
