MyApartmentMap Guide - Real Estate Agent
Allston and Brighton, especially Allston, are dominated by college students or recent grads. This is especially true in the corner of Allston that is home to a section of Boston University's campus and housing. Allston has a reputation for its low housing costs, occasional seediness, and rowdy nightlife. It's probably the part of Boston that falls asleep last, and can be the loudest on the weekend. This neighborhood is perfect for twenty-somethings, and especially college students. But if you're older -- or have a family -- this probably isn't an area you would want to rent in.
Nightlife
MyApartmentMap Guide - Real Estate Agent
Other areas in Boston, like the Fenway area or Faneuil Hall, are known for the nightlife, but the young crowds (early to late 20s) flock to Allston on the weekends. This neighborhood's nightlife scene is definitely on the rise with great music venues (Paradise Rock Club and the Brighton Music Hall), as well as dive bars, clubs, pubs, and lounges. When you factor in all the apartment parties that are being held as well, the result is a neighborhood that is still partying after the rest of Boston stumbles home and shuts the lights off. The downside to this is that public transportation shuts down early, and parties run late -- if you live in this area you won't have to worry about that issue.
