Smith College

Smith College is close to several of Northampton’s best restaurants. Some are out of the price range of college students, like Bistro Les Gras, but others, such as SooRa, Bela, and India House, are affordable and popular among Smith students. One of the benefits of living in downtown Northampton, along Main Street and nearby streets like Market and Hawley, is the terrific selection of restaurants. Off-campus students should know how to cook for themselves, but most of them get takeout and dine out far more often than the average person. Northampton’s population is continually getting younger and hipper, which can partly be attributed to Smith. The amenities that the city offers are targeted towards this demographic, such as the bars and music venues in downtown. There are also clubs, restaurants, sports bars, breweries, dive bars, and lounges. It’s a perfect small city for a college student on the weekends, and Smith is located just a short walk from all the hottest spots.
