    Which apartment communities are you speaking of? We do have a way of searching for amenities such as "playgrounds", which tells me they could be considered kid/family friendly. Here is an easy way to access the search:

    http://www.myapartmentmap.com/list/colleges/nc/...

    For future reference, just click on advanced options and you will see how I was able to filter the apartment listings to include those that have playgrounds.
