I am not sure what your price range is like, but I'm sure you know that DC is not exactly an inexpensive place to live.
The Howard Plaza Towers are a 5-min walk to campus, and the Williston and Claremont Apartments are pretty close, too; about an 8-min walk.
View 14 and Columbia Uptown both have apartments about 6-min by car from HU, or 10-min by bike. If you take the bus, the Ellington Apartments are 10-min away, or a 15-min walk from campus.
