Is renter's insurance required in NJ? I didn't think it was, but a place I looked at over the weekend is telling me I must provide proof of insurance before I can move in. So, is it the law that I need to have it? If not, is it legal to require me to have renters ins?
The landlord is allowed to require that you have renters insurance since they are in charge of the complex. Anyways, from what I understand you do not need to have renters insurance, but you may want to think about getting it.
