Hey, every apartment review I read, especially for those 1 bedroom places with rents in the 1200=1700 range always seem to complain about management companies being bad. (Like Avalon, TGM, etc.) I'm at a loss as to where to move now. I'm way too worried. Any advice?

If you still want to move to the Columbia area, I would try to find an apartment that isn't run by a large management company, especially if that's what you're worried about. If you find a smaller management company or look for an apartment that is outside of Columbia you may have better luck finding a place that has better management. Another thing you could do is to find a few apartments that you really like and that have all of the amenities you want and then look into the management of each one. If you find an apartment that you really love, the management really shouldn't be an issue as long as you are a good tenant. You have to remember that the people writing these reviews are usually the ones that are angry and have something bad to say and most of the time these people are the bad tenants.
      -Hope the search goes well!

Thanks for the prompt response. I don't have anything against large management companies. I'd consider myself a very good tenant. I just worry. I've tried looking for smaller companies, but have not had a lot of luck.
