Smoke Detectors in My Apartment. Just moved in, I believe I have an issue with my smoke detectors here at my new apartment. In the town I used to live in, the Fire Dept would come out as a courtesy and check them for you. Can someone put me in touch with the dept. here in town?
It is very important to have working smoke detectors in your apartment. I would give the Los Alamitos JFTB Fire Department a call at 562-795-2144 or 562-795-2142. If there are any issues with your detectors your landlord is responsible for getting you new ones. If he doesn't buy them yourself and deduct the cost off your rent check.
