The Pullman Transit buses are free for students and have many different routes on- and off-campus to useful locations. WSU has a system of carpooling for those intending to travel to a nearby city, called the WSU Motor Pool. WSU Zimride is another student service for those organizing a trip or wanting to carpool. Shuttles are available (at a price) to take students to and from the local airports. Also available is the school’s bike-sharing service, which allows you to borrow a bike & helmet for one day free, or the Zipcar car-sharing service, where you can rent a car for as little as one hour for a small fee.

There are many apartments near WSU, like the College Crest apartments and Campus Commons, as well as many privately listed rooms and apartments for rent. While Freshmen must live on-campus, many upperclassmen choose to live off-campus, and overall about 64% of students live off-campus. About 20% have cars, too, but just about everyone chooses to live within ten minutes or so of campus for convenience. On average, a one-bedroom near WSU is around $450/month, and a two-bedroom is around $680/month, though it’s always recommended to pick a handful of roommates and split the rent. Four-bedrooms around here can go for as little as $800/month, which means you may only pay $200/month!
