On campus, SMU students enjoy a wide variety of dining services. Places to eat on campus include the dining hall, Starbucks, Chick-fil-A, SUBWAY, Pizza Hut, Einstein Bros. Bagels, Mexican cuisine, a produce market, a sushi place, vegan and gluten-free options, and a smoothie shop. SMU Dining Services even has a Gift Service where you can customize a baked good and send it as a gift to a friend. Off campus, the options are nearly infinite in Dallas, but within walking distance of SMU, there are options at Hillcrest / Snider Plaza behind the campus. This area has numerous small shops in addition to the various types of cuisine, including Mediterranean, Italian, BBQ, Seafood, and American.

In 2012, Playboy named SMU the #1 College in Nightlife in its annual Top 10 Party Schools List. Playboy calls SMU a “never-ending house party.” The most popular bar is easily the Idle Rich Pub, frequented by partying undergraduates. There are numerous Greek fraternities and sororities which throw parties nearly every night of the week. Between the four theaters and arena on-campus, there’s nearly always something to go see, and the football stadium regularly boasts 32,000 filled seats for a Friday night under the lights, so it’s safe to say football is a pretty big deal.
