Just a few instances of property crime and few drug and liquor law violations to were reported on campus, but nothing extreme. Crime was actually on the decease in McAllen, Texas last year - with murder dropping 75%, rape dropping 88%, and robbery dropping 22%. According to McAllen’s official crime report, in 2012, a crime (of any sort) was committed ever 1.56 hours. That index counted small petty theft as well as big crimes.
Nightlife

There are lots of places in and around McAllen to enjoy a night out. Roosevelt’s at 7 is a highly reviewed place with a large selection of beers, and good food. A fun place to go is Office BAr and Grill, it’s a nice quaint watering hole where you can meet new people and simply have a good time. There are many wine bars and lounges in the city that you can stop at to enjoy.
