Crime & Safety
Darren Praderio - Real Estate Agent
Alvin is a fairly safe place to live, though nearby areas like Santa Fe, Danbury and Friendswood are much safer. Manvel and Webster have higher crime rates. There are remarkably few sex offenders, with just one registered as of 2013 in the entire city. A murder occurs every other year or so, and there are a handful of sex offenses and arson cases. The violent crime rates here are lower than the national averages. The theft rate is somewhat higher, however, and generally matches up with the national average. Alvin has less police officers than the Texas average, as of 2011. In recent years at ACC, there have been no murders or assaults, and one forcible sex offense. There are around 20 thefts a year, and a handful of liquor violations. The campus is extremely safe, with an active police and security presence, security cameras, and lots of lighting. Alvin also has its own police academy, so students feel doubly safe.
