Off Campus Housing Assistance - Real Estate Agent
If you look at the crime maps of the areas south and north of campus, you will see two conflicting reports. South of campus, in areas like Hillsboro Pike, Hillsboro West End, Woodmont Boulevard, Green Hills, etc., there are relatively low reports of crime. But if you look north of the campus, which marks the neighborhoods between Vanderbilt and Downtown Nashville, there are high reports of crime. This is normal, as most cities have higher crime near their city centers. But if you’re trying to find a safe place in the city to live off-campus (within a couple miles), I would look to the south or southwest of campus.

Vanderbilt is situated two miles southwest of downtown Nashville. You can commute between the two areas by car, by foot if you’re ambitious, or through bus lines run by Nashville’s MTA. Once you get to downtown, the options of things to do are endless. This part of town has one of the best music scenes in the entire country (hence its nickname, “Music City”). If you’re not into live music, there are also great restaurants, clubs, and bars that students love to hang out at on the weekends. As for on-campus activities, the school’s organizations always have events going on, and the Division I sports teams are always competing for a championship or playoff spot.
