KAT, Knoxville Area Transit, operates many mass transportation systems in Knoxville, including “The T,” which is a transportation system specifically for UT. It has four T routes, numerous bus routes, and trolley routes. Semester passes are available. Across Knoxville, KAT also runs three trolley routes, the LIFT for disabled and/or special needs passengers, sports shuttles to manage crowds for various football or basketball games around town, and on/off express routes. Just about everyone at UT utilizes The T, it is easy to understand, and buses stick to the schedule pretty well.

Dozens of interesting events take place in Knoxville each year. Among the various festivals is the Big Ears Festival for live music, the Dogwoods Arts Festival, “Boomsday” Labor Day fireworks, “Ska Weekend,” the Corvette Expo, the Knoxville Marathon, GreekFest, the International Biscuit Festival, The Destination ImagiNation Global Finals, and so much more. The Knoxville Zoo and Knoxville Convention Center both host various events throughout the year, as do the various theaters. College, semi-pro, and pro sports are extremely popular in Knoxville, whether be it a “Vols” football game, one of The Force’s soccer games, or an Ice Bears hockey game.
