Many college campuses make students feel isolated, or claustrophobic, like they need to leave to go home for the weekend or to a nearby city or university. But Furman’s campus, which has been featured in esteemed places like the Princeton Review and Southern Living, is welcoming, large but not too much so, and one of the most aesthetically pleasing in the country. But most of all, it has so much to do. Some students like to sit, study, or just hang out by the 45 acre lake in the middle of campus (yes, you read that right), while others will wait until it’s dark and head to one of the fraternities or sororities for weekend partying. There are also fields for both intramurals and the team’s sports teams, theaters, and a music library. Why leave the campus when there’s so much to do on it?

Greenville’s climate highlights everything that’s great about living in the South. The winters are mild and over before they even really begin. The rain is fairly spread out through the year so there aren’t months that are wet and depressing like in other regions of the country. The average temperature highs are over 60˚ in every month except three, and are over 70˚ in all but five. The summer can get hot, yes, but air conditioning can remedy this. Only July is unbearably hot, with highs over 90 degrees, but I find the rest of the summer months to be manageable.
