Apartments Near Campus - Property Manager
In most cities, the center of the city, or downtown, area usually has the highest crime rates. However, in Providence, it’s the opposite. Because of the three universities located in downtown (URI, Johnson & Wales, and Brown University), there is an added emphasis on safety. The schools know that if they have their dorm and class buildings in Downtown, students need to feel like they can safely walk around at night. Also, students comprise a large population in Downtown, which makes it a safer area because this young, educated demographic is less likely to commit crimes. If you’re looking for a part of the city to live in an apartment, other neighborhoods (especially south and west of Downtown) aren’t as safe and should be thoroughly researched first.

Most people consider Boston to be the definitive college city of the Northeast (and perhaps the entire U.S.), but Providence has a lot of universities within its borders as well. Johnson and Wales, URI-Providence, Brown University, Providence College, Rhode Island College, and the Rhode Island School of design all are either headquartered or have satellite campuses in Providence. This adds an extra layer to nightlife options for students. Not only do they have the bars, clubs, and restaurants in Downtown (where schools like Johnson and Wales and Brown are located), but they can also attend any of the other colleges’ events.
