In October 2012, the unemployment rate in Oklahoma City was just 4.8%. Jobs are consistently added to the economy, and while most metro areas have been struggling, Oklahoma City has one of the lowest unemployment rates. In September 2012 alone, over 6,400 jobs were added, and over 20,000 have been added in the past year. OCCC and the state of Oklahoma have plentiful resources for those seeking employment, and it shouldn't be very hard to find work here.

Oklahoma City has a long history of tornado encounters. It is considered one of the most likely places in the US for a tornado to hit. In 1999, a tornado caused around $40 million worth of damage, so if you want to live here, it’s best to know the tornado safety procedures for your area. Thankfully, Oklahoma City has one of the best tornado warning systems in the entire world. Summers can get very hot, winters can get very cold, and hail is not uncommon. The air quality here is not so good due to car emissions, and those with seasonal allergies will probably suffer.
