Public Transportation

Athens has a public transportation system called Athens Transit, which has marked stops around town, and relies on individuals to hail their stop. Individuals are allowed to go up to ¾ mile away from the designated route the buses normally follow. There are routes in and around the campus. Ohio University also offers a shuttle for those traveling to the airport for a fee. Other bus systems are available, like Lakefront Lines, and GoBus, which have stops in Athens. Students feel the bus services are reliable in Athens, but that walking is alright, too, since many places are conveniently close.
Nightlife

OU is a party school. It has made Playboy’s Top 10 Party School list in the past, and there are plentiful locations around campus to get a cheap drink. Students at OU have a great time partying, and visiting the numerous bars on Court Street. The nightlife in Athens is one of its primary draws. Some of the bars on Court Street include the Red Brick Tavern, Pawpurr’s, The Pub, Cat’s Eye, Pigskin, the CI, and more. The Union Bar is an OU student favorite dive, which has lots of dancing, and Tony’s usually has a nice mix of locals and students. The Athena is a movie theater also located on Court Street.
