Apartments Near Campus - Property Manager
The main campus for the University of Buffalo is actually about 15 miles northeast of the city’s downtown area. The drive on Interstate 240 and Route 33 takes around 20 minutes, although traffic can really slow you down during certain times of day. Because of the distance, commuting back and forth (for an internship, job, or if you find an apartment near the downtown area) requires a vehicle. The city of Buffalo does have a light rail line that it operates, but it only serves the University’s South campus. If you have to go there for classes, you can use public transportation to commute, but otherwise a vehicle is recommended.

The University of Buffalo is the biggest post-secondary school in the Northeastern U.S. region (New England and the state of New York). The student population is nearly 30,000 if you combine both undergraduate and grad students. If you are looking for a school with a small population, this isn’t it. However, one of the upsides of the university’s size is that every year there are thousands of students who are looking for off-campus housing, so there will always be a variegated and plentiful local market that you will be able to tap into.
