Ditch the dining hall and ramen noodles at least once a week; you’ll be saner and less stressed if you do. And with Empire State’s perfect location, just a half mile or so from Downtown Saratoga, you don’t have any excuses. There are plenty of great restaurants within walking distance, and trust me, after you eat you’re going to want to walk it off. Some of the best-known local establishments are Max London’s, Chianti Il Ristorante, Karavalli, Sperry’s, and Mio Posto. Splurging once in awhile on off-campus food is recommended, and is always worth it when you go to one of the many excellent restaurants in Downtown.

Empire State's campus is sandwiched by two completely different parts of town, both of which offer different types of activities for students. North of campus is downtown Saratoga, with its shops and restaurants. South of campus is the Saratoga Spa State Park, which offers nearly every type of outdoor recreation. Instead of working out at a local gym, you could be jogging or biking through the park's gorgeous trails. Lake Lonely and Saratoga Lake are also a short drive away from campus, and are great to visit when the weather is warm.
