Off Campus Housing Assistance - Real Estate Agent
Raleigh has a noticeably low crime rate for a city its size, but NC State’s campus isn’t located in the safest area. That distinguishment lies north in the city’s northwest neighborhoods, generally past Interstate 440. But if you want to stay south of I-440, look into the southern parts of Leesville and Six Forks, as well as near Ray Road. Statistically, these communities have very low crime rates. If you want to be closer to school, the North Hills neighborhood also has a good reputation.

Like to party? Or, do you like to enjoy Raleigh’s arts? Students who live on-campus often complain about the school’s distance from the downtown area; it’s not close enough to walk, and when the buses aren’t running they have to find a friend to carpool or suck it up and pay for a cab. But students who aren’t living on-campus can live wherever they want, hence my original question. If you know that you’ll be spending most of the week in downtown (Thursday-Sunday is more than half of the week), why not live nearby? Some students would rather be close to campus, but I’ve helped others find spots in and around downtown, and I’ve only heard good things from them.
