Newman is just a five minute drive from the best restaurants in Wichita. You could also walk there if you have time to burn; it would definitely build up your appetite! On streets like Central Ave, East Douglas Ave, and East 1st Street, you will be able to find the best restaurants in the city. The Harvest Kitchen and Bar (American), Thai House (Thai), Avi Seabar and Chophouse (Seafood), Sabor (Latin), and My Tho (Vietnamese) are just a handful of trusted dining establishments in that area. For restaurants closer to campus, you can’t go wrong with Bella Vita or Town & Country.
Apartment Costs

There aren’t many apartments directly south of campus, but if you look north in the Kiwanis Park/West Douglas Park/Delano areas there are a lot of rental options. Most of them are quite affordable too. You can find a one, two, or even three bedroom apartment (depending on how many roommates you have) for $950 or less per month. Apartments cross the four digit threshold once you enter downtown Wichita territory, which some students can afford. But most of them stay around Newman’s campus or to the west of it where they cheaper apartments are located.
