Even though KCKCC is a community college, the school does provide housing. It it is offered on a first come first served basis and each student requesting housing must submit a $150 reservation/damage fee with a filled out contract. For a furnished studio apartment the price comes to $4200 per academic year per person. One bedroom Kansas City, KS off-campus go for an average of $648 according to data in 2012, two bedroom apartments were renting on average of $783 a month. In neighboring city Overland Park, the apartments are actually more expensive than in Kansas City proper. So it might be more cost effective and convenient to stay within city limits.

Sharing a border with the famous Kansas City, MO there are a plethora of things to do. In 2012 Legoland was opened at the Crown Center in Kansas City. This is the fourth Legoland in the US. The building has Kansas City city landmarks constructed from Lego bricks, it also features a hands-on area, a 4D theatre and master classes from the Lego Master Model Builder. The Kansas City Zoo is also a very nice attraction for people of all ages. Scheduled to open in late 2013 is the Helzberg Penguin Plaza, featuring a 100,000 gallon pool and a coral reef aquarium filled with cold and warm climate animals. Kansas City also has many racing events at the Kansas Speedway, as well as an NFL team that plays at the new Arrowhead Stadium.
