Due to the rural location of the campus, most college students head to Atlanta for a good time, but there are several pubs in the Carrollton area for those who want to stay local. The Irish Bred Pub, a sports bar with outdoor seating, is popular, as is Plates on the Square, a restaurant with a full-service bar, trivia nights, and live music. The Stix Bar & Grill, about a twenty-minute drive from the University, is the place to go for billiards and beers. The Carrollton Stadium Cinemas is the closest theater to see the latest blockbuster.

Located in western Georgia, the climate in Carrollton is fairly mild in the winter. The average temperature, at its coldest, hovers around 55 degrees Fahrenheit. However, its warmer months occur when students return back to school, with temperatures in the 80s until October. The most rainy weather occurs January through March, so be prepared for some rainy walks to class. Light rain occurs frequently, as do hot and humid heat waves.
