Traffic & Commuting
University Rentals - Property Manager
Getting around NGSCU is easy enough with the shuttle they run for students, but unfortunately this service doesn’t extend outside of campus. So if you live in Dahlonega or a nearby town or city, you’re going to need a car to get to class. Bikes are an option if you rent close enough, but the school admits that bike theft on campus is common. Driving a vehicle is by far the best and most common mode of transportation for students. And with the Morrison Moore Parkway cutting through the south end of campus, students can easily get right on and off the freeway.
Recreation
University Rentals - Property Manager
NGCSU students have a critical choice to make when they venture outside of Dahlonega. Do they want to drive an hour south to the bright lights and busy streets of Atlanta, the region’s hub for culture? Or do they want to drive 15 minutes north to the Vogel State Park and the Cohutta National Forest? Cohutta has 35,000 acres of space, and is one of the most popular sections of the Appalachian Trail. It’s great for hiking, biking, camping, or any outdoor activity. Atlanta, meanwhile, has sports events, concerts, art galleries, a great restaurant scene, and many colleges. The choice is tough, but both options appeal to different people.
