The most popular facets of DC’s transportation system are subway, commuter rail, buses, and taxi services. Some of these modes of transit can bring you closer to the school than others. The closest rail station is a mile away from the main campus, which certainly isn’t walkable in the winter. In this case, you can take the Georgetown University shuttle. The shuttle is always reliable and is a popular year-round transportation option. However, if your classes, internship, or work study job are held in a different location in the city (the school has many buildings spread out through DC) then you should check to see which public transportation options are best for you.

If you are looking for a career in politics, Georgetown (located in Washington DC) has the fourth-best political science program in the country according to Science Watch, as well as a politically active student body with organizations and publications dedicated to this area. Not to mention, many politicians speak at the school because of its location, and a lot of them teach here after they retire. If you’re an off-campus student looking for an apartment in DC, it’s not too early to start checking out Capitol Hill’s listings!
